"I'LL BE A LITTLE LATE," HE SAID

Dorothy sang with joy as she prepared a meal for two. She looked at the clock. Just another two hours and Jim would be here.

About an hour and a half later, she raced from the shower to answer the phone.  It was her boyfriend… Jim. Her heart skipped at the sound of his voice.

“I’ll be a little late, darling… say, about ten minutes late. I just have to drop in at the bakery on the way over.”

She smoothed her hair. And put on some music. And lay back on the couch… waiting.

About one hour fifteen minutes later there was a knock on the door. A man in uniform.

She almost fainted when she caught the look on his face.

“I’m so sorry…” he said. He didn’t have to say much more.

Some time passed after the funeral. Then one night he “appeared” to her and said he was in heaven, and that he still loved her.

She was so overwhelmed with joy that they had sexual relations together.

It was quite some time later that she discovered it wasn’t Jim at all!  She’d been had… by an impersonator.

But who was he? How could he have done this? It had been all so convincing… the look… the voice… his cute laugh… the way he stroked her neck, like he always did.

This incident happened in South New zealand.
